Classroom Art Collection

It is nearing the end of the year, and it is time to celebrate all the creativity that your students have been doing!  This is a fun and dramatic way to show off each student's favorite art piece.  I included our class mosaic in the middle for a center piece to work around.

 Here you can see the different types of work that were included.  I also put pictures of us completing projects in the collage.

This tree was also a great way to hang art (kudos to my coworker Abby).  Beautiful and the kids loved seeing their work on it!

Happy Mother's Day

This year for Mother's Day we used our Recycling Unit Flowers (follow this link to see it) and added the kids' cute little hands to look like they are carrying them!

 Just trace there adorable hands, write their name, date, and a message for mom, and mod podge it to the cans. We are sending these home along with their Mother's Day cards!

Mother's Day Celery Stamp Flower

This year for Mother's Day we created these adorable flower cards.  Here is how we made it:

Cut the stalks off the celery and you create a beautiful flower stamp.  Fold white construction paper into a card and get some paint (I chose red to look like roses).

 I had the kids paint the celery because it created an even layer to stamp.

We created the stem with strips of paper leftover from Twirl 3-D Art.  

 Add some thumbprint leaves and done!  Super easy for kids to complete by themselves.

Happy May Day!  This is a fun and easy way to brighten anyone's day!

Paper Mosaic

This is an easy way to introduce kids to mosaic art.  Cut strips of construction paper and have the kids cut squares and glue it to a large sheet of paper.

Hang up your beautiful mosaic to brighten any space!

Earth Day Art

Happy belated Earth Day!  Here is a fun and easy way to make Earth with your kids....props to my co-worker Abby!

All you need is coffee filters and watercolors.  It is also a great way to discuss the colors of the world seen from afar.

Twirl 3-D Art

This is an art activity that I started to look one way, but the process made it so much better.  It truly shows you how allowing the kids to create the way they want will make unbelievable results!

Start with: strips of construction paper, glue, and card stock

Have them start gluing the strips on the paper.  

I showed them how to make twirls with a pencil and glue it in 3-D way.

Here are some of the wonderful masterpieces that were created!

'Stained' Glass

Here is another project to complete with the painted tin foil from the Window Art Project (Click Here to See).  Just use the left over scraps and have kids tear it (fine motor) and place on contact paper.  Add another piece of contact paper on top to hold the pieces in place.  Hang is the window for some beautiful art.

Rainbow Crayons

Use rubber bands to bind the colors of the rainbow together.  This makes it easy for all the little ones to create their own rainbows.

Window Art

This window art is both visual and tactile.  It is a great way for kids to explore light and color, while adding a beautiful window display.  Here is how we created it:

Start with tin foil and paint.  Have the students paint a thick layer of paint on the tin foil.

Let it dry and then comes the fun part!  Lay down a piece of contact paper and have the kids rip and crinkle the tin foil over the contact paper.

Place another piece of contact paper over the paint chips and tape the edges with clear tape.  Hang up in the sunlight and enjoy the colors!

Recycled Can Process Art

During our recycling unit, parents brought in cans for our classroom to use.  One process art that we had fun with was painting with the recycled cans.  The only rule: You Have to Get MESSY!

Snow Painting

 Outside time was jazzed up today with snow painting!  A fun and easy activity that allowed the kids to show their artistic abilities outside.

All you need is powder tempra paint.  Place in a cup and add water.  The mixture should be watery to allow it to spread over the snow.

Bring it outside and let the excitement begin.  Encourage them to write their name, make shapes, or other topics that you may be covering in class.

It all becomes a colorful masterpiece!

Toy Car Painting

One of the biggest dilemmas  in my classroom is to get some of the boys to enjoy art, so I have made it my mission to find artistic projects to intrigue the many superhero boys in my class.  

The Toy Car Painting was the answer!  Not only was I able to get all of my students to join the fun, but I also made a science lesson about coloring mixing.  

Here is how to do it in your classroom today! 

Materials:

Large White Paper/Tag Board

Toy Cars

Paint

Put some streaks or blobs of pain on the paper and let their artistic method begin.

After they saw what color they created, I added white to talk about shade and how the paint color will be lighter and darker in some spots.

The blue/yellow painting was absolutely beautiful.

Look at those cars go!  HONK HONK!

Then I added these color labels for a great way for the kids to look back and see what colors mix to make purple, green, orange, and grey.
