Can you believe that it is the end of July!? I woke up and had Meet the Teacher on my mind. I recreated my past Meet the Teacher to this updated black and bright bundle--and I am really excited about it! The bundle on TPT is fully editable as well! Here are some of the great resources included:
Also, included is a fully editable flipbook! I love how it turned out. I printed it out on Astrobright paper and it turned out great! Here is how the flipbook turned out:

Bat Integrative Literacy Unit
With Halloween so close, I thought it was a good time to share my Bat Unit! This is a great way to integrate literacy and science. Also, this unit has math, physical education, counseling, art, and technology standards covered! Common Core aligned and fun to use!
Vocabulary Around the Room Activity- Gets kids moving and using their context clues!
High Frequency Words are also Going Batty!
Science and Literacy collide in this fun unit!
Oh Yeah! Did I mention that all the lesson plans are included with the common core standard included!
This bat study from A Day in First Grade inspired me to create my own big CAN, HAVE, ARE Bat. The fun labels were not included on her website, so I made some and put them in my bundle for you to easily print on bright paper and use!

Meet the Teacher
Today was Meet the Teacher! It was great meeting my new littles and getting all their stuff organized. As you can see above, everyone organized their supplies into bins to add to our community containers [classroom reveal post coming soon].
My teammate and I had a flip book to discuss important information about our classrooms (flip book not included). Also, the student gift is a free printable you can find [HERE].
This Welcome page was displayed on my SmartBoard to help parents and students work through Meet the Teacher by themselves, which left me free to greet and get to know everyone!
You can get your Meet the Teacher packet [HERE].
Also, start following me for some upcoming FREEBIES!

Exploring Figurative Language & Poetry Unit!
This is a great unit that gets your learners' creative writing flowing! One of the most important parts of learning poetry is understanding figurative language, so this unit truly focuses on how language in poetry is used. Another way that the unit helps learners with thinking creatively is using a fun doodle warm up activity.
Students start with a small, obscure doodle, and they will turn it into whatever they see! This was a loved activity! Check out the fun doodles my littles made below:
Finally, this awesome unit includes great anchor charts for all the figurative language vocabulary.
This unit is a wonderful way to get your students excited about poetry! Get yours by clicking the link below:Sunday, February 9, 2014

Class Dojo
As a first year teacher, I came into the school year with great ideas for classroom management. However, like all great ideas, mine failed for my current students. Telling one of my 2nd graders to 'Take a Break' was anything but successful. I was desperate after the first few weeks of school and all my ideas were failing. Then, I came across one of the best discoveries since peanut butter (or put in your choice of guilty pleasure)...
(Click Above for Link)
This is a great management tool that will allow you to track not only misbehavior, but students' positive choices. Below is a informational video:
Here are a couple supplementary items I created to help my classroom become more motivated about earning points.
I use the above rewards to show appreciation for the kids that work hard. Also, in my classroom, we work as a team, so I wanted to reward team work monthly. To track student points, I use the Dojo Tracker.
Every day, I announce who had the most points and how they received the points. This special person gets their name on the Dojo Master Board and gets to sit in a special chair the next day as the Dojo Master.
Finally, I created Dojo Dollars. If you rather hand out money than track points, here is a link to a FREEBIE printable money that I created.
